General & History
The 15th century Mary’s Castle has 7 bedrooms sleeping 14 people on 5 floors which are interconnected by a magnificent stone spiral staircase. Situated in private grounds and within reach of famous golf courses, such as Royal Troon, this is an ideal property for families or friends wanting a holiday based around outdoor activities. This medieval, white rendered tower also doubles as a unique wedding venue, providing an intimate and historic setting.
Gruesome features such as a machicolation (an opening through which boiling oil was poured on intruders), a pit prison and a priest hole serve as reminders of the troubled times the castle has survived through. These medieval fixtures now coexist with modern fittings such as central heating, a plasma screen television, surround sound system and internet access so that whilst the children are re-enacting sieges of yesteryear, parents can relax with a good film or check their email.
