For kitchen basics there is a tiny shop a short walk away, at the nearby campsite. You will find a bigger grocery shop in the town, five miles away. Dunoon is a bustling market town with a pretty harbour, great artisan bakeries, butchers, cafes and two large supermarkets. There is some great gastro-pub food served at the nearby inn and a good restaurant at the hotel, and a fabulous restaurant overlooking the castle on Loch Fyne.
Loridale Estate is located in a tranquil glen in Argyll, just half-a-mile from a loch, surrounded by crag and woods, mountains, ancient castles and lochs to explore.
The area in located on the Cowal Peninsula on the west coast of Scotland, renowned as some of the most beautiful walking country in the highlands.
The Island of Bute is only fifteen minutes away, and you can get the ferry from nearby Colintraive. You are ideally placed to explore the valleys and mountains within the region, enjoy a daytrip to Loch Lomond, which is only fifteen minutes away, as is the ancient castle and gaol of Invernay.
Activities include:
• Golf: There are several fantastic golf courses within easy reach - two eighteen-hole courses and two nine-hole golf courses - and sets of golf clubs can be provided for guests’ use.
• Fishing: Trout fishing available on the stream or on the loch, mackerel line fishing in a boat on the Kyles or river fishing. We have four rods available for guests’ use.
• Watersports, horseriding, paint balling and shooting are among some of the many options for outdoor amusements.
• Mountain biking: there are twelve bikes available for guests’ use.
• Shooting: Clay, grouse and pheasant shooting, when in-season, and stalking can all be arranged.
