General & History
The Chateau is a fairy-tale French chateau situated in the heart of the beautiful Normandy countryside. Dating from the 18th Century, the chateau is run as an informal guest house by its English proprietors.
The chateau is situated in an area of great historical interest and lovely countryside, only 30 minutes away from glorious sandy Normandy beaches opposite Jersey.
The large hall, oak panelled dining room and sitting room can all be enjoyed by visitors, as can the chateau's 3 acres of grounds. You will find Chateau an ideal base from which to explore the delights visual and gastronomic for which Normandy is famous. Or just come for a holiday in wonderful surroundings.
Built in 1751, the chateau stood originally in 2,000 acres of land. During the war, the chateau was occupied by the Germans as a communications headquarters. The building has many unusual features and plenty of space - giant oak beams, Douglas redwood floors, 18th Century local stone fireplaces, an unusual dome shaped kitchen and 5 sets of French windows. The chateau has now been lovingly restored to its former glory by the Berridges.
