The Château offers excellent self-catering accommodation with a wide range of facilities and its ideally situated for exploring the many wonderful delight of the Loire Valley. The Château, formerly the home of a wine-maker, is set in mature and extensive grounds with secure walled courtyards.
The original building was destroyed during the Vendeen war of 1793 and the present property was re-built in 1830. We are situated on the edge of the small wine producing village of Concourson-sur-Layon, known for its “Anjou” and “Coteaux de Layon” wines, some 15 miles from the enchanting town of Saumur and just 3 miles from the market town of Doué la Fontaine.
Concourson boasts a reasonably priced restaurant/bar, a boulangerie within walking distance, as well as many wine producers “Vigerons”, offering free visits and tastings.
On-site facilities for the free and exclusive use of guests include an impressive 12 x 6m (40’ x 20’) floodlit swimming pool, set within a secure walled garden and with a large terrace and childrens' paddling pool, games room with pool table, table tennis, boules and badminton. Young children are more than welcome and are well catered for with many toys, games and bicycles. A free washing machine is also available.
