Interior & Grounds
An inviting combination of gregarious communal spaces and cloistered retreat, this pink limestone palazzo enjoys total unspoiled tranquillity just over an hour from Rome. The breathtaking view gladdens the heart throughout the year – with autumn forages for truffles and mushrooms among riotous woodland colour, spring asparagus hunts surrounded by the fragrance of broom and blossom, summer among the jasmine and roses, lazing by the pool, and the occasional glittering snows of winter whose chill is vanquished by effective underfloor heating and the glowing warmth from the six fireplaces. The walls are embellished with amazing frescoes, five centuries old, beautifully restored. The family crest in the entrance hall – built to accommodate the horse and carriage of the resident grandee – dates from the same era. Interior details have been chosen for their authenticity – wooden doors, terracotta floors, oak beams and hand wrought ironwork. Contemporary additions are the gym, the 3 double jacuzzis and the sauna.
