General & History
Built at the very end of the 15th century on a defensive site with stupendous views, Palazzo Rosa has been the get away from it all choice of celebrities from the notorious Borgias to legendary contemporary Italian film stars – who should know a good thing when they find it.
During its long history it has been a fortified wayfaring hostel, the seat of Catholic power in the region, and home of the scion of possibly the greatest composer of the 20th century. It was bought by the present owners who spent eleven years on a perfectionist restoration, finally completed at the turn of the millennium. Authenticity has been the guiding principle, allied with a celebration of the position, the space and the pure pleasure that can be enjoyed sitting on a velvety lawn round a roaring log fire in the moonlight, with the twinkling lights of Umbria spread beneath you, and a glass of Brunello to hand.
