Interior & Grounds
A building of curious grandeur complete with tower and Dutch gabled façade, whose interior is definitely regal – with high vaulted or beamed ceilings, carved stone or marble fireplaces, buffed and polished terracotta floors. The décor blends fine tradition with interesting and quirky – walls hung with family portraits, and heirloom ceramics, alongside the chic graphic modernity of zebra striped rugs and retro scarlet leather Odeon armchairs.
Kitchen/Breakfast Room: Bright and sunny, with plenty of room for informal eating, a panelled wall separating the two.
Salon: Comfortably grand, with large sofas and a fine Turkish rug underfoot, paintings, carvings and frescoes on the walls, and a handsome fireplace to lend a glow of warmth on chilly evenings.
Library: A magnetic mixture of comfort and mystery, this room has cinnabar red bookcases filled with fascinating treasures, frescoed panels on the walls, along with antique maps, and a fireplace to complete the air of cosy, bookish retreat.
Dining Room: Grand 17th century portraits on the walls, a massive carved stone fireplace and handsome antique furniture make this elegant colourwashed terracotta room absolutely celebratory, perfect for convivial candlelit gatherings. When the sun shines, the double doors are an enticing invitation to the patio.
6 Bedrooms: Ranged on opposite sides of a long corridor, the bedrooms are spacious and full of character, some with frescoed walls and fine fireplaces, furnished with antiques, and looking out over wonderful views.
6 Bathrooms: An air of old-fashioned glamour pervades the bathrooms, thanks to heavy clawfoot baths, acres of marble, and a sense of restrained luxury. Four of the bathrooms have Jacuzzi tubs.
