General & History
Once a tiny fortified castle, the property, which includes Casa Padronale and 6 apartments, has been transformed into a floriferous oasis surrounding a huge old linden tree whose delicious shade and fragrance give the courtyard a sense of cloistered tranquillity.
Casa Padronale
The house is filled with antique family furniture and paintings, has magnificent views across the valley towards the sunset and the mountain, and a garden of beautifully tended lawn dotted with fruit trees and fragrant shrubs. There is a comfortable covered veranda in which to sit and enjoy the view. Roses and wisteria bloom on the pergola, where summer meals can be cooked on the integral wood oven and eaten rhapsodising at the view.
There are 6 self-catering apartments to let in this delicious haven. All of them have been tastefully restored retaining the features – old patinated floors, open fireplaces, handsome ceiling beams as well as attractive antique furniture - that contribute to their original charm, and all of them have been brought up to date with such essential innovations as dishwashers, comfortable beds, central heating, TV’s, stereo Cd players, and efficient functional kitchens. All the guests have access to a central washing machine and dryer. Towels for all the bathrooms are changed twice a week. Dotted about the estate are sheltered and private nooks in which to enjoy outdoor meals, barbecues are provided. Guests have access to a swimming pool and tennis court. A recent innovation – in the form of a large communal dining room catered for by a local chef – provides delicious local dishes made with the estate’s own produce, culinary respite and a dip into society.
