General & History
Templar House is a Georgian mansion set on an estate of 1,200 acres overlooking its predecessor, a C12th lakeside castle ruin. Originally a city gentleman’s country home for his family, this house has remained a family home over the centuries. Part of Templar's charm is that although many houses of its type were abandoned by their owners in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, it has survived and this brings a great sense of continuity. Granted, over the years, the house has been modernised to provide the quality of accommodation required today, but in many respects, guests can look around and feel that little has changed for over a century.
Today this historic family home offers unique and elegant country house accommodation which is ideal for house parties, weddings and other special events and is available on an exclusive use basis.
