Interior & Grounds
The luminous white stone of this Loire château looks out over enclosed lawns and parkland, with stunning views across fifteen kilometres of open country. The accommodation is arranged over two floors, with traditionally furnished, spacious living rooms and elegant bedrooms with beautiful drapes and linens.
Ground Floor
This magnificent château is entered into beautiful hallway with chequered stone floor, elegant candelabra and furnishings, and leads onto the main reception rooms and sweeping stairway.
Reception Rooms
There is a living room with fine antique furnishings and ample space for entertaining with great views from the tall shuttered windows. The room has a television and VCR. A second salon provides additional space for entertaining, relaxing with a book or a glass of wine or watching the television, which has both French and English channels. The library creates a quiet retreat, with a good stock of French and English titles, abundant natural light and stylish leather armchairs. The library also has a stereo and local information guide. There is also an office.
The spacious kitchen is a traditional French château kitchen, with beautiful original tiling, terracotta floors and sturdy furnishings. This is a well-equipped space for culinary preparations, with a gas stove, oven and grill, a microwave oven, toaster, refrigerators and dishwasher. There is also a huge old monastery table, which can seat ten guests for family breakfasts and informal meals. There is also a formal dining room arranged for full house dining, with beautiful antique furnishings, wooden floors and suspended candelabra. The utility room houses the washing machine, tumble dryer and iron. There is also a WC located on the ground floor.
Bedrooms
Conveniently located on the ground floor is bedroom one: This is a twin bedroom with a water closet and separate loo.
First floor
There are nine further bedrooms and bathrooms on the first floor:
Bedroom suite two is a very spacious and elegantly furnished room, with a comfortable double bed and a single bed, making this an ideal room for a small family. There are great views over the gardens and beyond, and the room has a shower room en suite.
Bedroom three is a double bedroom, again a very spacious room with great views of the surrounding countryside. There is also a shower room en suite.
Bedroom suite four is a large room, elegantly furnished with beautiful antiques and a comfortable double bed and a single bed. The room has glorious views over the surrounding Loire countryside and there is a shower room en suite.
Bedroom suite five and bedroom six consist of a large double bedroom with bedroom six adjoining, which is a twin bedded room. There is a large family bathroom en suite with a bath, separate shower, washbasin and loo.
Bedroom suite seven and bedroom eight consist of a large double bedroom with bedroom six adjoining, which has twin beds. There is a large family bathroom en suite, with a bath, separate shower, washbasin and loo.
Bedroom nine is a pretty single bedroom, with a comfortable single bed and a water closet en suite.
Grounds
Château des Lampions is set in over 27 acres of parkland, all enclosed within a wall, offering privacy and a fantastic area of country to explore during your stay. The parks are gated and operated via remote control to the chateau, creating a restful sense of security. The estate contains extensive lawns, terraces, with rose gardens and woodland with ancient trees, many of which have stood longer than the château.
The 10m outdoor swimming pool is fenced for safety and surrounded by stone terraces with sun loungers. There are terraces with barbeque and dining furniture, as well as table tennis and bouncy lawns for a kick about. There are no through-roads on the estate and the enclosed gardens provide a great outdoor space for all the family to explore and enjoy.
