General & History
This luxury private rental is hidden in the lush landscape of the Norman countryside. The same family has lived in the neighbouring chateau for centuries and the present generation would be happy to invite you to share some days of leisure in an artistic and historical setting.
The estate is situated in the centre of the Normandy peninsula that borders the English Channel. It forms an excellent base from which to explore the attractions of the region. It is within easy-driving distance of the D-Day invasion beaches, Bayeux, and Mont Saint- Michel. This luxury 17th Century rose covered manor house is located in the same grounds as a beautiful chateau (that the owners live in). A line of trees separates the property from the chateau and it is entirely self-contained with its own private garden. The property was recently renovated and is divided into three luxury self-service apartments: the Maréchal, the Chevalier, and the Marquise. All of these can be rented together for a group of up to 14.
Built in 1675 for the Maréchal de Bellefonds, the manoir is flanked by an exquisite Italianate 17th century stable block on one side, and by an impressive chapel designed by Mansart, architect to the court of Versailles, on the other. The manoir was built by the Maréchal as a hospital for his wounded soldiers, but after his death it became a family home.
