Reception Rooms
Entrance Hall: Uncovered in the restoration work were the massive beam that supports much of the Chateau, and an inscription carved in the 18th century by a Republican soldier.
The Main Staircase: The quintessence of 18th century elegance, complete with a portrait of the owner at that time.
The Guard’s Chamber: A wonderful setting for a banquet, seating up to 100, with a high vaulted ceiling and stone walls.
Old Billiards Room: Once resounding to the sound of cues rattling and billiard-balls clacking, this small discrete 19th century building has become a sophisticated lounge bar.
Salon 1: A fine example of the present owners talent for interior decoration, this room begs for a glittering assembly and grand celebrations. The fine 18th century fireplace is resplendent with the coat of arms and somewhat bellicose motto quoted from Horace - the reward of valour in war - of the owner who did so much to civilise this building.
Salon 2: A quaint system incorporated into the radiators, devised to warm dishes, proclaims this room as having once been a dining room, as it still is, used for breakfasts and as a setting for small dinner parties up to 25 guests. It has retained its 18th century fireplace, and the ‘French Style’ ceiling is very likely a 19th century touch.
Reading Room: The 16th century fireplace is enlivened by inspiring images from Roman mythology – Ceres, overflowing cornucopiae and a faun or two. Sitting here, in this intimate softly lit place, with its myriad books and linen-fold panelled walls, you can forget your troubles in a peaceful literary reverie.
Chapel: A simply beautiful and spiritual setting for a dream wedding that will never be forgotten by a single one of the guests. The chapel can seat 80, who can admire the delicate stained glass, the stonework and superb sculptures as they await the arrival of the bride.
