Interior & Grounds
Up to 13 guests can sleep at the Chateau, and there are extra cots for babies. The decor is simple and stylish, with touches of history in the rich mouldings of the ground floor ceilings, the polished tile floors and antique woodwork. At the same time, there is thoroughly contemporary attention paid to the importance of wi-fi and internet connections.
Step beyond the large friendly hallway, and you will find yourself either in a salon/dining room well equipped with TV and video with UK satellite channels, or in a library full of books and games. Both are elegantly decorated in an appropriate style that fits the age of the house.
The roomy, well-fitted kitchen, by contrast, has everything to suit the contemporary cook – dishwasher, microwave and fan-assisted oven, with fridge/freezer, washing machine and iron in a neighbouring utility room, plus a convenient downstairs cloakroom.
On the first floor of the Chateau there are two spacious bedrooms (one twin and one double) with en suite shower rooms. In addition there is a useful family suite comprised of a double bed, a sofa-bed and an en suite bathroom.
The second floor has a large, king size bedroom, a triple family room, and a roomy, fabulous bathroom, with its own Jacuzzi bath.
The Farm Cottage has a more rustic look, and sleeps 5. It has its own paved terrace complete with chairs, tables, and a barbecue, enclosed within a broad courtyard. Within there is an airy open living room/kitchen with fan assisted oven and a microwave on the ground floor, which also has a sofa bed to accommodate extra guests. Upstairs are two sizeable bedrooms (double and twin), alongside a family bathroom with bath and shower, hand basin and loo.
The Coach house, with its quaint rusticated brickwork reminiscent of a bygone age, can accommodate 10 in luxury during the high season months of July and August (at other times, we can only let the ground floor). The ground floor is adaptable and multipurpose – it is composed of a roomy breakfast room and kitchen equipped with the culinary necessities, which opens into an open plan living room with a sofa bed, in which are TV/video and freeview satellite channels, as well as toys, books and games. French doors lead straight out into two eating areas – a private paved terrace and a courtyard with a barbecue. On this floor there is also a twin bedroom with an en suite shower room, designed for the disabled. On the first floor are two double bedrooms and a roomy triple, each of which has an en suite shower room. In addition, it is possible to sleep in the single bed on the wide landing. The ceiling is low in parts of the landing, so tall people should be aware.
