Ground Floor

Chapel: Chateau des Gatts has its own small but opulent chapel dating from the 1400s.

Entrance Hall: This is the era of elegance and the age of reason – the symmetrical façade opening through double doors into the entrance hall, with its spare black and white tiles and decorative fanlight is strongly reminiscent of the Georgian era.

Grand Salon: A rich Turkey rug on old tiles, a Pompeiian niche with a life size Ceres, tapestry chairs, painted doors, family portraits, a grand piano – the air of casual grandeur is relaxed, lived in and comfortable.

Dining Room: With seating for up to 16 guests, this is a room made for convivial talk – the décor is simple, with old terracotta tiles and heavy beams bearing a brass chandelier.

Library: A calm and peaceful room, its shelves full of books to browse.

Sitting Room: An outstandingly pretty room, with its floral wallpaper and gentle colour scheme, this is a comfortable retreat for a game of chess or to sink into the sofa for a quiet snooze in front of the television.

Billiards Room: Everything you need for a championship game.

Kitchen: Nothing is lacking for pleasurable cooking – there are all the necessary labour saving devices, and a large and handsome farmhouse table at which to eat en famille. There is a microwave, hob and oven, fridge, dishwasher, plus a laundry and a wine cellar.

WC: There is a toilet on this floor.

First Floor

There are 10 bedrooms on this floor, all decorated with charm and imagination – two with King-size beds, four double bedrooms, and four single bedrooms. All are furnished with appropriate antiques, including large panelled armoires. The Master bedroom has a luxurious en suite bathroom with double basin, bath with shower and bidet. There are two further bathrooms on this floor, one with bath and shower attachment, handbasin and toilet, the other with a shower, handbasin, bidet and a separate toilet.

Grounds:

There are congenial gravelled terraces for outdoor eating, and a view of the two small lakes teeming with fish. The 12meter by 6meter swimming pool is fenced and has an alarm. There is a nearby changing room, a shower and a toilet. Other amusements are table tennis, badminton and croquet, and this is superb cycling country.
