Château Gothique is located in a very pretty village, which has several good restaurants and grocery stores selling all household necessities and local produce. A short drive to nearby villages and towns offer other great eateries and local markets selling delicious vegetables, meats, cheeses and wines.
The surrounding Lorraine valley is renowned as a beautiful, unspoilt region and you are only ten minutes from a large nature reserve, which is great to explore on foot or by rental bicycle. The lake provides some excellent fishing and sailing, there is a nine-hole golf course nearby and local stables give the opportunity to go out hacking and explore this stunning region.
The château is happy to arrange planned excursions, such as crossbow hunting, and the area has a wealth of game including wild boar. Clay pigeon shooting can also be arranged, as can wine tasting and even hot air balloon rides. Golfing excursions are very popular, and there are at least ten good courses within easy reach of the castle. The historic town of Metz is about half-an-hour away, which is the capital of Lorraine, and has an intriguing gothic cathedral. The beautiful town of Nancy is well worth a visit, and has one of the finest town squares in Europe. Verdun has some fantastic Art Nouveau architecture, and the region has many great churches and historic sites to see.
