Ground floor: The large rooms on the ground floor are lit by windows on both sides and all have oak beamed ceilings and stone flagged floors. Large French windows on the south side open onto the gardens.

The Grand Salon, a spacious room comfortably furnished with sofas, armchairs and antiques, has 19th century oil paintings and a 17th century fireplace.

There is also a sitting room with television with all UK sky channels and a B&O sound system, and a handsome dining room furnished with antiques and oil paintings.

The large and comprehensively refurbished kitchen with a vast expanse of granite work surfaces is a cook’s delight, featuring gas hobs and electric oven, American style refrigerator and freezer with ice maker, microwave oven and dishwasher.

For those wishing to keep an eye on share prices and check emails, there is a study with high spec computer with access to broadband.

Guests can do their laundry in comfort in the laundry room which also contains two geothermal heat exchangers.

First floor: Château Merlin boasts two bedroom suites on the first floor- the Master Bedroom suite with super king size carved four poster bed, sofa, armchairs and ensuite bathroom with contemporary fixtures and fittings.

The other suite has a bedroom with super king size hand carved oak four-poster and fireplace, a sitting room with Sky TV, and ensuite bathroom.

The first floor also contains a well stocked library with carved walnut cabinets.

Second floor: The bar, with four Italian leather bar stools and carved walnut drinks cabinets, is delightfully situated at the top of the round tower and handily placed for the four remaining bedrooms, three of which are doubles and one with twin beds. All have ensuite bath/shower rooms.

Grounds:

The château is surrounded by over 40 acres of lawns and oak woodlands offering a wonderful children’s playground and opportunities for the rambler and wildlife enthusiast.

The large (14 by 7 metres) state of the art heated swimming pool has a salt water filtration system and is set in stone terracing furnished with sun loungers, parasols and teak table and chairs for eating out during those warm summer nights...
