General & History
Approached by a long drive through oak woodland, this small and lovely château with a distinctive round tower dates from the 1500s although most of the building was completed in the 17th century.
Château Merlin retains many of its original features- the massive stone staircase and walls of limestone, the great oak beams supporting the roof- now all extensively and sympathetically restored by the current owner to offer guests the opportunity to stay in an authentic medieval chateau while enjoying all the comforts of contemporary living.
These comforts include a lift, new wood and stone floors with underfloor heating, a large salt water swimming pool, and a bar under the roof timbers of the turret. In short, a magical environment for a group or family holiday in the beautiful countryside of the Dordogne.
