General & History
Constructed in the 13th century as the residence of the lieutenant of the bastide, it is built into the banks of the river with extensive cellars containing a prison. The original massive stone walls are still visible on the garden terrace and ground floor and its turrets, towers and overhanging balconies give a fairy tale aspect to this lovely building. With luxurious accomodation for twelve, it is impossible to imagine a more spectacular holiday venue.
Château La Lindeau, a private home, is furnished and decorated throughout with the owner’s great personal style- an eclectic mix of contemporary and antique- and one is always aware of the Dordogne river below suffusing the rooms with reflected light.
Guests can breakfast on the terrace among the flower beds in the morning sun and dine on the balcony as the setting sun illuminates the river and the great forests on the far bank- a serene and spectacular setting for total relaxation.
