General & History
This is the genuine article: A pinnacled and battlemented C17 castle (one of 1001 strongholds dotted around this site of the hundred years war) restored with sumptuous renaissance extravagance, bearing contemporary comfort and pleasure in mind. The castle stands protected from present day banalities by a cordon sanitaire of 12 acres of ancient oak and chestnut wood set in parkland. Every window opens onto breathtaking views of the South-west aspect of the Dordogne valley in the lush, fertile region of Perigord Noir, a region that has been preserved unspoiled and will remain so thanks to its designation as Parc Naturel Regional perigord-Limousin.
