The chateau is in a hamlet, though there is a small village close by, and a slightly larger one 8 km away with a baker, butcher, supermarket and restaurants. Within easy reach are historic chateaux, museums, festivals, and markets.

There are mountain bikes to rent and advice on routes available – there are 2000 km of signposted cycle tracks in the Morvan Park. Alternatively you can explore on foot and take a picnic. Or you can hire a quad bike or a 4 x 4, ride a horse, canoe, or take up white water rafting. Or enjoy the scenery from the air in a hot air balloon.

For the less adventurous there is a golf course 20 km away.

Last but not least of course, when in Burgundy you must investigate the excellent restaurants and the wines.
