The local tourist office can inform you of the myriad theatrical and musical festivals in the region, and the sites of cave drawings from 30,000 years ago. The Romans left traces of their sojourn, solemnly beautiful buildings are the legacy of religion, and successive Dukes of Burgundy built themselves castles. Last, but not least, there are the unsurpassable wines to taste in the local vineyards.
Liberally sprinkled with ‘Most beautiful Villages’, and with Vezelay and surroundings listed as a World Heritage site, Burgundy demands exploration. The chateau is located in Morvan National Park – where 150 species of bird and wild animals large and small live among the Oak, Beech, Holly and conifer forest, and the lakes teem with fish. Three rivers and numerous tributaries create every kind of natural water feature one could wish for, and in spring the meadows are carpeted with wild flowers. Heaven for nature lovers, whether on foot, bike or horseback.
As well as every kind of watersport, there is horse riding, archery, Montgolfier ballooning, golf and tennis in the vicinity to keep you occupied.
