General & History
The Château de Daumas is an architectural gem set in the high hills of Burgundy. 12 acres of fields, orchards, & a formal terraced garden surround a large gated courtyard.
The chateau itself consists of a large 17th century manor house, a large chapel, a long wing with stables, a library, and a 14th century round tower.
The chateau is ideal for family holidays of groups up to 12 persons seeking to enjoy Burgundy’s vineyards, historical sites, cycling, & hiking possibilities.
The Château de Daumas is thirty minutes from Beaune (Burgundy’s wine capital) 45 minutes from Dijon (the seat of the Dukes of Burgundy), and 1 hour from Vezelay, where St Bernard launched the Second Crusade. Visits to Flavigny, Cluny, Fontenay, Bussy Rabutin, & Alesia (where Julius Caesar conquered Gaul by defeating Vercingetorix) are easy day outings. Henri of Navarre, later Henry IV, fought his first battle in the wars of religion in 1570 at Arnay-le-Duc, 7 km away.
