This region of Northern Brittany is renowned for its golden sandy beaches and the rose granite coast.
There are many nearby towns with pretty harbours, promenades, sweeping shores and quiet coves to explore. St. Quay Portrieux is a particular favorite, as are Plogrescant and Perros Guirec. Amoripark in Begard is a theme park, only a short drive from the house, with bouncy castles, and great indoor and outdoor themed swimming pools with water chutes. A ferry from nearby Paimpol will take you to Isle de Brehat, known as the island of flowers. With no motorized vehicles allowed on the island, they have been the inspiration for artists and walkers alike.
Further afield is Lac du Guerledan, about an hours’ drive away - a huge lake with fishing, swimming, sailing and kayaking. The surrounding area has lovely picnicking spots, and there is also mini-golf, horse riding, and a children's playground. Situated in the village of Brelidy, just a two-minute drive from the Manoir, is a karting and quad bike adventure park with great circuits for both adults and children. For those who love a round of golf, there are some great courses in the area, which offer 18 and 19-hole courses, such as Le Touquet.
The beautiful old steam train is a great way to get to know your surrounds, and the Vapeur du Trieux will take you from Paimpol to Pontrieux from mid-June until the end of September. En-route you will pass through the woods of Penhoat-Lancerf and the glorious Breton countryside, while delicious crepes and local cider are served on board. You also pass by the Chateau de Roche Jagu Park and gardens. A visit to the chateau is well recommended, as admission is free to the gardens, and there is an annual Celtic exhibition inside the house.
