General & History
In the heart of France's epicentre of food and wine, nestled between two medieval villages, this 19th century farmhouse has been restored to award winning magnificence.
Original beams and floors of old wood and terracotta meet specially sourced design classics and bespoke furnishings. The Maison d'Aufage has wonderful shutters and thick stone walls.
An exclusive retreat, the manoir offers the comfort of an old family farmhouse with a modern interior, with a tailored service for up to ten guests.
Set atop a hill on five acres of landscaped gardens, the manoir has five bedrooms (each with a unique feature) and a 1600 square foot loft living space with satellite television. The loosely designated living areas including a bespoke cosy corners elegantly lined with old penguin paperbacks and vintage board games.
The well equipped kitchen and dining areas offer bright and spacious places to prepare and enjoy the bounty of France's celebrated gastronomic hub.
Outdoors, the aroma of lavender and rosemary delicately scents the terraced area, with barbeque and seating for al fresco dining. Adjacent to the terrace is the pool area, enclosed by a gate and beautiful stone wall surround. The sizeable swimming pool offers complete privacy, with bespoke Californian sun loungers providing optimum comfort and as the sun descends behind the cherry and plum orchard, the depths of the pool glow with a soft and serene backlight.
For a unique soaking experience, the outbuilding flanking the pool and terrace areas contains an immense bath, measuring three square metres and sunk into the ancient floors with a window cut through the solid stone for a breathtaking view of the sunflower fields in bloom.
Out and about, the local area offers visitors a wealth of natural beauty, historical walks and outdoor activity. The local organic market is the oldest in France and the manoir is ideally situated in an area of south-west France rich with lush scenery - from rivers, orchards and rolling hills of the countryside to cobblestone streets, ancient monuments, and old world beauty of the neighbouring towns.
The manoir is a memorable retreat for the discerning traveler and is also available for photo and film location shoots.
