Entrance Hall
Dining Room: Grandly decorated in the Italianate style, with life sized marble statues and paneled walls decked with exquisite porcelain. It is alluringly lit by a glittering chandelier and a phalanx of candles. This awe inspiring room is an appropriate setting for the exceptional cuisine (provided on request) eaten from heirloom china with silver cutlery.
Salon: Outstandingly beautiful and a listed historic monument, this semi-circular room has classically inspired pillars and pilasters. Many a souvenir of international game hunts past is mounted on the walls. By day the sun streams across the marble tiled floor, by night, this is the place for aperitifs drunk from Baccarat crystal glasses.
Living Room: A certain formality distinguishes the salon, with its panelled walls and groups of red brocade armchairs, its tapestry, Persian rugs, cabinets of curiosities and grand piano.
First Floor
The Billiard Room: Entertainment in august surroundings, with handsome panelled doors, walls of trompe l’oeil marble blocks embellished with large works of art.
Bedroom 1: With a peaceful view of forest, garden and water feature, this spacious (40sq.m double) room with its magnificent carved antique bed and polished wood floor has a large marble-lined bathroom en suite.
Bedroom 2: With a view of the listed Cour d’Honneur, this cosy (22sq.m double) bedroom is furnished with a suite of fabulous matching antique furniture, complete with four poster bed bearing the coat of arms. It has its own bathroom.
Bedroom 3: Gloriously sunny with an uplifting view of the listed chapel, this paneled room has an open fireplace, a seductive antique bed, an enormous rich burgundy flatweave rug and delicately patterned wallpaper.
Bedroom 4: In a separate wing of the chateau, near the chapel, this independent (70sq.m double) bedroom comes with its own kitchen and bathroom. The ornately carved bed is identical to that used by Catherine de Medici in her castle. Tapestry armchairs, an open fire, and views of the Cour d’Honneur and garden make it the perfect hideaway, and it has an adjoining single bedroom, should you want company.
Bedroom 5: Total romance in this sizeable room (35sq.m double) with a kingsize bed, Persian carpet, ornate marble fireplace, family paintings, and en suite bathroom.
Bedrooms 6 and 7: These, a twin and a double bedroom together with a living room and bathroom, make up a charming self-contained detached 18th building, part of the Cour d’Honneur and known as the Maison d’Hotes. The elegance and authenticity of its architecture and décor have won it the coveted title of Historic Monument. For practical reasons it is only open during the summer months.
Grounds
The Maison d’Hotes is a large formal enclosure of gravel and grass, the buildings comprised of the Maison d’Hotes, a Reception Hall large enough to accommodate 150 people, stables, garages and the private quarters belonging to the owners.
The Chateau garden and terrace for summer dining, are set in the 17 hectares of bosky woodland and water of the grounds of the chateau. Ample parking is provided.
