General & History
This opulently furnished, six bedroom Chateau built in the nineteenth century, is splendidly situated amid sixty hectares of wooded parkland. Its grandeur owes much to the architectural style of the Italian Renaissance, with lofty hand painted ceilings, polished parquet floors, marble fireplaces and gilded mirrors, all flooded with light from the characteristically tall windows. Elegant double doors open onto extensive balustraded terraces affording splendid views, unchanged over the centuries.
The chateau, once a family home, has, over the years, provided a serene refuge for those wishing to escape the myriad cares of modern life.
Chateau du Lac, with its extensive parkland, boasts an arboretum of magnificent specimen trees such as giant cedars and copper beeches, as well as a large and well stocked lake and sufficient river frontage to delight the keen fisherman. A variety of wildlife; boar, deer and pine marten inhabit the woods and birds of prey and heron are often seen while exploring the woodland trails. The chateau has a tennis court and golfers are well catered for with an eighteen hole golf course bordering the property. There is a stables a few minutes walk from the chateau should one wish to go riding or take riding lessons.
