There is a pretty medieval market town close to the estate, which is steeped in history and has a plenty of shops and restaurants, including village pubs serving delicious home-cooked food in front of a warming log fire. The town also hosts the annual round Wales car rally and regular music festivals. The town is situated on the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park, as well as the Fforest Fawr Geopark, on the picturesque heart-of-Wales railway line. The Llandovery heritage Visitor centre will provide you with a wealth of up-to-date information about local events in the area.
The surrounding countryside is truly breathtaking and there is an abundance of outdoor activities available close by, including fishing, mountain biking along marked trails, and watersports on the three rivers in the area, bird watching and rambling. The Brecon Beacons National Park arranges guided walks to help you discover the area, which has many ancient and pre-historical sites as well as truly breathtaking scenery, including the Brecons and the Black Mountains. For wildlife enthusiasts the Red kite Feeding Station offers visitors a chance to watch these rare kites and buzzards feed from their special viewing boxes.
