General & History
This stunning Jacobean Manor is grade 1 listed and some of its rare architectural and interior features date back to medieval times. There has been a house on the site since the early 16th century but the existing property was built in the early 17th century by an ancestor of the present owners. The property has remained in this well-established family, descended from an ancient line of Welsh princes ever since. Today Fflint Hall is still very much run as a family home but is let on an exclusive use basis to accommodate up to 14 guests in seven luxurious bedrooms with a guarantee of beautiful surroundings and the utmost privacy. The house is perfect for family gatherings, retreats and house parties, but is also set up for corporate events.
Until the 19th century what is now the drive to the house was actually a main road, and passing travellers were accustomed to calling at the house to ask for help and supplies. In the 16th century a member of this illustrious family built a series of small compartments under a roof, and a cottage to accommodate wayfarers – these are still standing along the drive. There is clearly a tradition of welcoming visitors, although today all guests are received in grander style at the main house. A number of the owners' forebears were made High Sheriffs of Flintshire, and visitors will notice the coat of arms of two different branches of the family displayed in the main hall. The rich history of the house and its inhabitants is evident as you step inside, telling of battles won and awards made for services to the crown.
