Edenbridge Castle is a fine example of a Tudor English mansion. Built in the late 15th century, it is one of the earliest brick built buildings in Sussex and the skilled craftsmanship of its creators is noticeable throughout. Steeped in history, one can only begin to imagine what the castle’s walls have heard and seen through the centuries. Most notably, one of England ’s more famous (or perhaps notorious) monarchs stayed here whilst hunting wild boar in the nearby forest and courting his future bride.

The house sits amid beautiful formal gardens, and the fields and woodlands within the grounds are home to all kinds of wildlife including deer and pheasant. Each season brings its own delights to your surroundings – in Spring it’s carpets of daffodils, in early summer the vivid colours of our rhododendrons, in high summer the water lilies on the lakes, in autumn the vibrant tone of the surrounding woodlands and blazing red leaves of the Virginia creeper that scales the house.

For centuries Edenbridge has been a much-loved family seat but, despite its historical importance, today it offers a cheerful welcome to all of its guests. No longer resided in by monarchs, we would be more at home describing it as “shabby chic” – and homely is exactly what it is. Please note that the word 'castle' is not synonymous with '5* hotel' and you will NOT find luxurious fittings such as power showers and plasma screen televisions. What this property does offer is a large area for you and your family and friends to roam around in within driving distance of London with prices starting from £27pp/night for weekly bookings. This is a property that will no doubt capture your imagination and impress you with its character during your stay; however, it is also a property whose interior appearance reflects its age. Unrenovated in recent years and very much left to weather over time, the property is maintained in an unfussy, unpretentious manner that prevents you from suffering a holiday fraught with worry as to what antique / family heirloom you or your children may knock over after a celebratory evening with friends.
