General & History
A grand 18th century manor house sensitively restored and decorated with style and good taste, the Domaine de Montmerveille is the first major castle en route to the Loire from Paris, and combines the pleasures of the idyllic French countryside - this area is known as the breadbasket of France - with easy access to two cities synonymous with culture and sophistication.
Begun in the 17th century, the Domaine?s symmetry was given a whimsical edge by the 19th century addition of an elegant tower, the entire building being recently renovated to fulfil the most exacting standards of comfort and efficiency.
The classic main building is flanked by two adjacent residential wings ? making an enclosure of quite exceptional charm when illuminated at night. The ancient chapel adds a historic touch, and the dovecote is a reminder of the culinary necessities of yesteryear. The Domaine is beautifully set off by the well-tended gardens, the arboretum of century old trees, and the lake, in whose placid surface the house is mirrored.
Within its walls, the décor reflects the quiet elegance of the exterior ? it is the perfect unobtrusive, tasteful setting for any occasion, be it personal or corporate. The Domaine adapts easily to host formal and informal parties, weddings, receptions, banquets and cocktail parties, as well as making an inspiring backdrop to public and professional events such as exhibitions, seminars, courses, reunions and conferences. With this in mind we can provide internet facilities, fax, photocopying, and back projection.
The Orangerie has been imaginatively transformed into a fabulous galleried reception hall, easily accommodating 250 people, for dancing or dining ? for which we have catering facilities. From the viewing gallery ? which doubles as a spacious sitting and relaxing area ? you can watch the glittering scene below.
In addition the public areas of the Chateau comprise an enfilade of four exquisite salons, opening in elegant 18th style with double doors from one to the next, flooded with light from tall windows and glittering pierglasses, with impressive carved fireplaces. There is also a large light dining room and a bar. For complete relaxation massage can be arranged ? or yoga with a qualified instructor - and you will also find a sauna, a hammam, and a Jacuzzi in a glamorous mirrored custom built spa suite with stained glass windows, from which it is but a short walk to one of the bedrooms.
