Leisure activities: - The Loire and Allier, and surrounding areas (15mins from the manoir). The loire and allier are considered to be two of Europe’s largest, least developed waterways. The bec d’allier in Nevers is considered to have major cultural and ecological heritage. You will witness many scenes of natural beauty: sand banks, alluvial forest, and many differents plants and animals such as beavers.

Nevers: Walking route (Blue Line). If you like to tour the city independently you can follow a walking route - the blue line painted on the sidewalk. You have the choice of two routes, and this system allows you to discover the main landmarks of Nevers at your own pace. The guidebook is available at the Tourist Office.

Prestigious sites and cities: - Apremont-sur-Allier – 15mins west by car. Medieval village and its floral park 02 48 77 55 06. You can also go by bike along the Loire canal.
- La Charite sur Loire – 20mins north. 'Notre dame de la charite' and its Priory: In 1998 Unesco recognised 'la chairite' as one of the stages along the St Jacques de Compostelle, between Vezelay and Bourges. Archaeological sites: - Mont Beuvray - 1h east. Bibracte, a Gallic city, was constructed on Mont Beuvray at the end of the Iron Age. Two thousand years ago Bibracte, surrounded by ramparts, was the capital of the Eduens, one of Gaule's most powerful groups of warriors. Musée de Bibracte – 03 85 86 52 39

- Sancerre – 40mn North. Sancerre is perched on a rocky vine overlooking the Loire valley. The famous A.O.C. registered original vineyard surrounds, it providing red, white and rose wines which one may savour with crottin de chavignol (goat’s milk cheese). Tourist information: 02 48 54 08 21
Other places of interest: - Farm and goat breeding of Port Aubry – 03 86 26 63 61 e.melet@wanadoo.fr. Crottin de Chavignol is an A.O.C. label of goat’s milk cheese. It is generally made on Eco-farms in Cosme-sur-Loire. Port Aubry is a farm located in the specific area of this AOC.
