General & History
Deep in the heart of France lies this jewel of 18th Century Bourbonnaise architecture. Listed as a 'Monument Historique' and considered to be one of the region’s most important pieces of architecture, the chateau sits in 17 hectares of its own grounds, beyond which are over 1000 hectares of woodland and forest.
Michel Cadier, 1st Lord of Veauce and ancestor of the present owner, turned the castle into a hunting lodge at the turn of the 18th Century. In the large trophy hall, the substantial number of animals from all around the world testifies to the depth of the family’s predatory instincts, and also the lengths they were prepared to travel to indulge them. Indeed, delicious game dishes are still served in the charming Italianesque dining room and shooting can be arranged locally.
The chateau is furnished with period furniture throughout and all bedrooms are en suite.
